Bleeding for 5 years, Truly Serious or not?
In 09 I had Implanon inserted; I bled the whole 3 years I had it in with cramps the whole way through. Now, when I had it took out I had Paragard inserted; BUT even a year afterwards I'm still bleeding and cramping consistently. (other than a stop for a couple hours every couple months) Any type of sex makes me bleed like a gutted pig and gives me extremely painful cramps for days. Any Idea's of why that may be? Cause I'm just ready to get all those bits took out (at 20)

I've asked my gyno about it before and all they told me was it was normal and the only thing they would be able to do is give me steroids. (YES LETS GIVE HER A BEARD TO MATCH THAT MUSTACHE WHY DON'T WE!) But I'm already pretty darn hairy as it is so no.

*Edit* You don't know how depressing it is when you realize you've been bleeding consistently for 1/4th of your life.

    Hi mizerib,

Has your gynecologist checked the placement? Sometimes that can be a factor. Unfortunately, the excessive bleeding can happen for some women. It may or may not clear up, so you could either continue with it,( but ask your doctor to check its placement), have your doctor check to see if another cause for the bleeding may be possible, such as polyps, or try yet another contraceptive.

You mention being hairy... Do you have a history of irregular periods by chance? If so, have your hormone levels ever been checked? That could be another cause for the excessive bleeding.

Have you considered trying a different Gynecologist in all of this time to get a second opinion? If what you were experiencing was common, much less the norm for that product... nobody would be using it and it might even have been pulled from the market.

This is exactly the sort of time a second opinion is warranted.

It is clearly the wrong form of birth control for you. Go to a different doctor. Better get checked for anemia too. You must be exhausted!
