How to adjust the deck belt on a '90s 5012 model Murray 12hp 38" cut lawnmower
The belt is supposed to be a 63" and that was way too long. Purchased a 61" and that is STILL too long. The adjusting rods are as far as they will go (number 20 on any parts diagram for . Is there something else to adjust to make the belt tighter. Right now, it isn't even close to fitting... WAY too long.

    Hi,
Sounds like your machine may have called for a 37X63 belt. For Murray 37X stands for belt and the 63 means that it is the next number in the assignation process, after assigning 37X62 to the previous belt. It does not anywhere give a length in the number; the 37X63 does NOT mean that 63" is the length.
    Peace,
    Clarke
