    How to get rid of IRS debt

    I sense that you have been watching TV ads for companies that offer to represent you before the IRS and promise to get your tax debt reduced to pennies on the dollar.

    Such a reduction IS possible, but only in cases where it can be proven that you cannot afford to pay the penalties and interest. If you have the money or assets or credit line to pay the penalties, the IRS consistently refuses to waive any penalties, especially if they are the result of an audit.
