post spleenectomy PETH
Does anyone know if a patient is post spleenectomy will that show a possible false positive peth.

No, having had a spleenectomy will not affect a PETH test. The spleen is not involved in ETOH metabolism.

More often than not a Positive is a positive. You're more likely to get a false negative. The most likely cause for a positive result is alcohol consumption.
