    Replacing ceiling fan pull switch
Several months ago, I pulled the chain out of our ceiling fan again and I'm just now getting around to repairing it as summer approaches quickly. Since this has happened before, I did what we did last time. I ran to the hardware store and picked up the same L 1 2 3 type fan switch. However, after installing it, the fan still doesn't work. I don't know anyone electrical savvy enough to speak with to fix it. As far as I am aware, I put the wires back in their correct respective slots. The fan runs 3 wires to the switch: gray, brown, and purple. Please help!
