Old kid's cartoon with axe soldiers.
This is taking me back, but I'm looking for an old cartoon, maybe 80's or 90's where there were gems that a child needed to find underground and put them in an egg type container. There was also an army of non-human soldiers shaped like axes and other weapons who were trying to capture the child. I hope I haven't combined 2 different cartoons LOL, I'm pretty sure they're in the same film.

I think this is the movie I've been trying to remember for years. From what I remember, there's a big round king in a castle, and all of his soldiers are axes that walk. I remember something about mushrooms tying up the boy and taking him underground (I know it sounds like Mario, but it's not). Then someone drips some of this potion into the king's mouth, and he turns good. His body changes to a pink or yellow color, and I think flowers grow out of him. The mean soldier axes turn into something else... maybe flowers. Is that the one you're talking about?
