    Heavy Periods
    I am 49 yrs old up until 1 year ago I had normal periods (4-5 days). Now I have 2 days of extremey heavy bleeding (change 1 x every 90 minutes) - why is this

    Hi furryc,

    It is possibly hormone related, such as perimenopause, but there are other possible causes for heavy bleeding. Have you asked your doctor about it? Your doctor should be able to determine a cause and discuss options with you. Sometimes hormone therapy may be used, sometimes a procedure may be necessary, sometimes it is just part of getting older until you actually go through menopause.
