I first got my period when I was 15 years old and it was slightly irregular up until I was 18 and began taking birth control pills which regulated it. Once I got off the pills I had the Mirena IUD put in March 21,2012 and removed April 3,2014. Me and my husband are trying to conceive our first child and found a supplement for us both called Fertility Blend. There are mixed reviews of using it, so from a medical standpoint would you say using a supplement like that is beneficial or are there other methods you recommend?

Save your money. You will need it for the baby.

The he best thing you can do is eat healthy, get plenty of rest, avoid toxins such as alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Most importantly, you need to starry taking a prenatal vitamin to avoid neural tube defects.

As J_9 said, it's not necessary. Most of what is in the blend you will find in a good prenatal or multivitamin... often for less money, along with eating a healthy diet.

One ingredient that can sometimes be helpful in conceiving is the Vitex. However, this is only due to it's ability to help regulate cycles for some women. Some women will try Vitex before consulting their doctor for a medication such as Clomid. Fertility Blend (the original, as there are now other companies with their own "fertility blends") has been a popular product for some women trying to conceive.

Several years ago, I contacted the makers of Fertility Blend and they were unable to provide an amount of Vitex that is in the product. Given that it falls into their blend category, I suspect the amount is not standardized or in an amount that someone with irregular cycles would necessarily benefit from.

In other words... you can think of it as a specialized vitamin supplement. Won't hurt... but obviously no guarantee of helping conception to occur.
