John Deere x320 won't drive

This riding mower won't drive. It starts but the transmission won't engage. The lever on the rear of the mower is in the correct position but it will not move. Any ideas??

Changed battery in John Deere X320. Mower will not go forward or backwards now. John Deere X320 - starts but won't move [ 1 Answers ]

Lever in rear is engaged. Doesn't appear to be the issue. Battery died, had charger on over the weekend but wouldn't take a charge. New battery installed and works to start but when you step on forward/reverse pedals you get no response. Thanks in advance.
