    Name not on mortgage
    We have been marry for 20 years in may we got the house two years ago and my name is not on the mortgage but I help pay 1/2 of all bills

    First, its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to its own thread.

    Is your name on the deed? That is more important than being on the mortgage.

    So, treybradfo, what is your question? It appears that you are in an enviable position: you may have a claim to a share of the equity (in the event of a divorce), but you are not liable should the property go into foreclosure.

    The only problem is that, when one of you dies, probate will be necessary to get it into the name of the survivor. Consider (with the bank's consent) transferring the property into a tenancy by the entirety (joint tenancy with right of survivorship).
