    ETG testing
I drank seven beers on Friday night finished last beer at 10:45pm. On sat hydrated and worked out drank about a gallon and half of water. On Sunday worked out and hydrated well drank about 2 gallons of water. Drank creatine and multivitamins throughout the weekend. I have an ETG test Monday at 4. What is the probability that I will pass this test.

It is hard to say. The tests are about 60-80hrs sensitive. Give or take, but that is dependent on amount of alcohol and a bunch of other factors.

More importantly, what do you stand to lose if you fail? If you're being tested than someone somewhere doesn't want you to be drinking and you're drinking regardless. Why?

After drinking 2 gallons of water in a day... pretty slim. And I also second what CravenMorhead stated.

Without getting into too much detail that could incriminate me more than I already have. I could lose my career. It's is not criminal in any way. You are right it was not worth it and hind sight being 50/50 I would not make that wrong choice again but I am human and make mistakes.

The reason that was asked is because the REASON for the testing is important. Ordered by the court is not the same as employer required as to the testing standards.

THe fact you had to toss in its not criminal in any way is diametrically opposed to the fact it sounds exactly like it was.

Thanks for your input smoothy. Although I do value your opinion I do not see where I need to prove myself to you and your doubts about me. This is not criminal and if you have to know it's for the board of medicine. Sorry that you have not made any mistakes in life, this was intended for advice not for judgment by you or anyone else. Thanks again and hope you never find yourself in a situation like this.

Well that was rather rude and uncalled for... I think its clear from your answer that this was ordered by the court... and not random job related testing.

If you expect advice... you can expect to be asked for important details such as I asked.

And since you felt a need to go on that little rant... let me state that I've gone through countless (I lost count how many) work related drug and alcohol screenings over the last 30 years due to the nature of the jobs I have held. I can enjoy drinks when I want and have never failed a single test... but then mine weren't court ordered and I wasn't required to be abstinant...different standards between them....thats why I asked.

Since you felt a need to keep critical information secret, and got cranky when it was asked... we are going to have to guess.

Based on my crystal ball to divin the missing information, Its says this was court ordered... you drank a LOT... probibly screwed up your blood chemistry and will likely fail on at least dilution if not on the actual other stuff because insufficient time has elapsed for your liver to process everything.

Sorry but how you answered a routine request for needed information says volumes.

I didn't pass judgement...but you clearly had a quilty concience for some reason to react that way.

I actually had originally assumed "incorrectly" that this was a random job related test. And just needed clarification.

So.. which is it specifically . Job related or court ordered... they both have very different thresholds in testing.

If its Job related... unlikely to fail unless you are a truck or bus driver (or public transit)... but if it was court ordered... it's very likely to fail on numerous counts.

It is board ordered from the board of medicine it's doesn't go through a judge but it is treated almost the same way. The drug screen is sent off to a lab Medtox. Sorry about earlier guess I am nervous and being a whiney .

Accepted... at this point its all moot... but drinking excessive ammounts of water screws up your body chemistry for a significant amount of time... and on the stuff that's court ordered... they look for it as its one of the common ways people think they can cheat... (which they are wrong). And its easily detected.

However nobody can say if your drink X amount it won't fail but if you drink X you will. And no two people will resond exactly the same.

Two gallons of water to someone in the Kuwait desert in July is way different than the same person in Alaska in January as far as what it does.

If this is for the board of medicine, then likely you are a medical professional who has determined that you may have a drinking problem for one reason or another. As a medical professional myself, I have an idea why they might be requiring you to test. Most likely you were found to have committed a medical error while under the influence and are required to stay clean in order to keep your license.

Now, if you are a medical professional, you know that drinking excessive amounts of water will change the specific gravity of your urine, thus possibly giving you a negative for alcohol, but a positive for dilution.

If you do test dirty, do you risk losing your license or will they offer to place you into treatment?
