Dual state residency
I am a flight attendant and work out of CA. I'm from CA but moved to IL and commute to work (via airplane). I want to keep my residency in Ca -I still have my car there and use it to get to and from my crash pad (moms house) for work. I also want to have residency in IL since I live here now. How can I do this?

You will reside in one state more than the other. That is your residency state. There is no "dual state" residency.

I disagree. OP is a resident of the state where she or he is registered to vote, has a driver's license from, etc.
But I agree that there is no such thing as "dual-state" residence.

Thank you both. So basically if I keep my drivers license in Ca I cannot be a IL resident? Because I reside in IL more and would like to file my taxes next year as an IL resident not a Ca resident? Or would I have to register to vote in IL? I am confused.

Next time you renew your driver's license, or vote, do it in Illinois.

Also I did sign a lease in IL so I'm hoping that will be sufficient evidence for when I file next years taxes there?

You do understand the distinction between renewing (when it has expired), and turning in a valid, current license from California so as to get a new one from Illinois?
