    Why did I have regular periods and then all the sudden they have became irregular?
    I am 17 years old and I got my very first period July of 2013. Then I got another one August 2013 and then another September 2013. I didn't have one in October, November or December. I found out in December that I have POCS. Then I got a period in January, just had spotting and vaginal discharge in February. This month I just had brown vaginal discharge that lasted for 2 days. I am not pregnant for sure. Is it possible that I didn't have PCOS from July through September when my periods were regular? Thank you for your help!

    Hi gymnastxo567,

    Since a frequent sign of PCOS is irregular cycles, this can mean that you might have a couple that come when expected, then they might not; coming sooner or later than expected, or not at all. Flow can vary as well....spotting to very heavy.

    What you have experienced is pretty common for women with PCOS, but it is not always recognized for PCOS until later given that it is not unusual for periods to be a bit irregular when first starting or in the teen years.
