    Yes, No, Maybe.

    All "PI" in the United States are licensed by each state. The rules of license and the requirements vary by state. Also merely working for a company as a PI and owning the company *working for yourself" differs also.

    Since most do not carry a weapon, it should not matter, but you would have course not get a weapons permit
