    All income is pensions & Soc. Sec. Ga Taxabl?
    I am 74 years old. Widow. All income is social security and pensions. Are these taxable in Georgia?

    For Georgia State income tax your Social Security income is excluded, and you get a $65K exclusion against retirement income from sources such as pensions. So if your pension is less than that then there is not GA state income tax due. For your federal tax return both your pension and perhaps a portion of your SS income are taxable.

    GA, where I live, is a great retirement state. ALL SS income is excluded and, as ebaines noted, anything above $65,000 is included but you also have deductions and personal exemptions. You need to have a lot of income above SS to file a GA return.

    Actually, you have to FILE the Georgia return for any amount that is NOT exclusively Social Security income.

    However, that return will show ZERO taxes due.
