Backlow preventer for water powered sump pump installation?
I would like to install a water powered sump pump in my basement as a backup. The kit that I ordered did not come with a backflow preventer. Does virginia code require a preventer in this situation?

    Hi Kenny

I don't have a Virginia code book handy, but a quick call to your local plumbing inspector or the inspector in the next town can tell you for sure! I know I would want a BF preventer installed code or not!!

    Good luck!

Basement water / sump pump [ 1 Answers ]

We have water coming into our basement when it rains. Until recently, the water flowed into a drain in a recessed area of the basement and did not cause many problems except for a wet floor. Recently we ran a new drain line from the house to the city main which bypasses the drain in the basement....

My fiancé owns a 5,000 square foot home with one sump pump (basement flooded 3 times in 5 years). It appears that the home should have been built with two sump pumps. Who makes this determination and what is the process for having a second sump pump installed? THANKS!
