I hate to give an answer like this, but in this case your best bet is to contact the Home Depot customer service desk and have them replace it or tell you how to go about getting it replaced...;)

If you rely on people online for this, you may end up chasing your tail, so to speak!

    Good luck!

Yes, copy of the paper work on the seat, showing warranty. And a copy of the receipt where you bought it. Take that with broken seat back to Home Depo ( unless there is other instructions on the warranty information.

Also you will find, normally limitations on this, normally to defects in manufactoring.
Depending on how it broke, expect them to say it was something else other than defect in seat

    "Our In-Store Return Policy

Returns within 90 days of purchase and with a valid sales receipt will be exchanged, refunded in cash, credited to your account or refunded via The Home Depot store credit. "

You can try the store but they will very possibly inform you that you have to follow the manufacturer's procedure since it is beyond their 90 day return policy.
They are very reasonable with returns in my experience and may be willing to exchange it- worth a try. BUTT, you may still END UP chasing your tail with the manufacturer similar to what mASS said, and you will have to return it to manufacturer, leaving you with no means of support.

Take it to the store, give it your best shot with the clerks. If they can't do anything to help, ask them to put it in the trash can and buy a new one and you will be SITTING pretty either way when you get home.

Good points above, but do NOT just bring the old toilet seat into home depot with you...will get a very yucky response from the workers!! Instead, wrap the old toilet seat up in its entirety in plastic and then put it in a box, if possible. I'd like to see one of the workers question you and try to take the toilet seat out of the plastic to inspect...what a riot that would be!!

    Excellent point, mass!

Another point to consider, if you have the box (I know that is a long shot) or access otherwise to the UPC symbol, and no receipt, these stores will usually give a store credit (no refund)-- so long as they can verify it was sold by them. Even better than an exchange as you can use the credit toward a new one of any style or brand.

In case anyone else stumbles across this, this is a Home Depot branded item. I took it back and was told to see "Glacier Bay" warranty, and an internet search made me realize that there is no separate company. Instead, I called Home Depot directly, and they gave me a number [(877) 527-0313] where they ended up refunding the amount through a gift card (so no further waiting!)
