    Drains, toilets, septic oh my!
Here is my issue: When my wife washes clothes, during the rinse cycle we can hear & see water bubbling in the sink & toilets from one end of the house to the other. I have one toilet that leaks around the base when this occurs. We have been advised that it could be the septic that needs pumped? I have use main line cleaner, and a pipe snake all to no avail. I hate to pay for septic pumping when it could be something else?

Pull the toilet and snake the main line. Certainly sounds like you have a blockage in the main line.

You don't pump a septic tank because it is full. Septic tanks are always full. You pump a septic tank to remove the solids that do not dissolve and settle to the bottom.

If a septic tank is overfilled it is because the septic field is saturated and can absorb no more water or because the distribution lines are blocked.

Stop using chemicals. That destroys the bacterial action that breaks down the solids.

Follow Harolds advice but before you pull the toilet let's do some checking. Locate the outside cleanout, open it up, and cycling the washer. Does the cleanout fill up with water? Let me know what you find. Back to you, Tom
