    What should I do
I want to open a savings account. The problem is, I have debt. I am afraid of garnishments. What do you suggest I do? I have a family to support.

If you are in debt then you have to ask yourself can you really afford to open a savings account... but if so I'm sure you shouldn't have too much trouble getting an account with your bank... but look around you want around 5.25% well that is what I am on in England with HSBC.

But look at your situation if you don't have a positive turnover per year, and you can meet your creditors for example mortgage, bills etc then its pretty simple either increase your revenue... apply to jobs with more money etc or whatever you can do to get more money, or cut all your costs Write a big list of your spending and cut out everything you don't actually need... I know it sucks but you got to. It wouldn't be a great idea to be looking in to putting capital into savings accounts and ISA's etc if you can not afford to.

    Hope that helps
