Dog Seizers
My dog Junior is almost 5 years old. He is a American Bull dog and Red Nose Pittbull. In the last 5 month he has had 2 seizers. What causes these seizers? And what can I do to help him?

Epilepsy is the most common cause and it can be controlled with daily medication. You will need to document when the seizures occurred, how long they last, if dog responds to you during the seizure, and how long it takes for the dog to come out of it and then make an appointment with your vet for an exam and bloodwork to make sure there is no underlying metabolic issue.

A number of things cause seizures. What caused somebody else's dog to have seizures may or may not be what caused your dog's. All you can do is take him to the vet. The vet may have trouble telling for sure and may need to run some tests.

Yes, the best way to help him is to get him to the vet. The vet may or may not be able to find the root cause. But the only way to know what is going on is to start digging for some answers and the first place to start is with the vet. You may find yourself on a long road of tests and different medications but Junior needs you to help him find some relief and actively try to find out what is going on. You really need to be proactive in this.

Hi, sorry to hear about your dog. I remember the first time my dog had a seizure, man was I scared. My vet described the bad ones from the not so bad ones can you describe it? We took my dog to the vet because he was getting really bad reaching up to 2-3 seizures a day. We discovered a brain tumor.
