    Bathroom renov
I have a recessed shower area in my basement where a shower once was it has a drain and was tiled. I removed the tile and I am not sure how to cover it up so I can make it level with the other part of my basement .I am renovating the ares in my basement completely and I have a soaker tub to go over it and a shower surround so it can be a tub/shower. The area is about 36" x 48" and is about 4 inches deep. What is the best way to cover it up. Should I mix up some concrete and pour it in ? Can I use some pressure treated 2x4's to level it . Please help.. can send pics if needed. Thanks bathroomnewb in denver

Are you saying the shower pan is actually part of the basement floor?

You have what we call a shower dap-out. That is a square hole in the cement that we first hot – mop with hot tar. The tile man can then come in and slope to the drain. Were you planning on using the existing plumbing to install you tub? If so you will have to be a 14 x 14 dap-out for the tub trap. Let me know where you plan on installing your tub. Back to you, Tom
