DCFS is investigating me for false accusations and I'm terrified
I got a phone call from dcfs this morning saying someone filed a complaint against me on their child abuse hotline. I knew this was coming because my ex husband has been threatening this as well as my own family. My attorney told me to cooperate with them and the woman came to my house this afternoon. I was completely open and honest about everything she asked. She said the allegations were that I am "out of it" due to my prescription meds, that my house was dirty with rotten food everywhere, that my children eat off the floor, that I leave my kids 7 and 3 unsupervised, that I am mentally unstable, live off child support and charities, have been unemployed for almost a year, and overall have a toxic environment for my kids. NONE of this is true except my house not being spotless all the time. She asked me for people's number's that I said were behind this and terrorizing me. I gave them to her as well as a signed release to contact my primary dr, specialist, and psychiatrist. Now I am thinking I shouldn't have given her all of that info. I know I have the right to say no but I wanted to cooperate in every way possible because I have nothing to hide. She kept reiterating the fact that me being on five medications was her biggest concern. Three are for mental illness and the others are for a physical chronic condition. I explained that they are necessary to function and I work with a whole team of doctors that are all aware of every medication I take. She said she is not a dr but five seems like a lot and that it would be hard to be lucid and care for my children! I am extremely upset because I am a recovering addict and have more self awareness about medication than a normal person. I go to meetings, have a sponsor, and all of my doctors know of my history. I have read horror stories about them using any information you give against you and taking your children anyway without just cause or proof. How can I disprove all of these things? I can't disprove them anymore than they can prove them! I'm just scared and upset and they questioned my 7 year old saying "I am here because someone told me you aren't safe at home." I understand the reason they have to investigate each claim but don't tell my child she has a reason to feel unsafe when I have done nothing wrong! I am in Illinois so if anyone has experience or works with dcfs please help me. Did I do the right thing giving her those numbers even though I know these people will fight against me? Should I call her tomorrow now that I've had more time to process this and ask these questions I'm concerned about?

Your attorney said to give them all this info. I would not have meet with them, without the attorney present. They are not your friends and that lady in your house is not there to help you.

They have to prove the case against you, not you give them enough to take the kids.

You gave them numbers of every witness against you. Information on doctors without them getting court order.
