We first need to know your general location. Answers can very because of differences in state law. Next how long have you been with your partner? I'm guessing not married (some states require being married for a certain amount of time first). That being said adoptions can be tricky to try to navigate all on your own so I always recommend calling around to adoption attorneys in your area. That way, whenever you do meet the criteria for adoption to be an option, the papers can be drawn up correctly.
