    Debt collection from 1996
My wife has recently received a letter from a debt collection agency for 3100 dollars. The letter didn't state who the debt was for. I called on her behalf and they said it was for a balance on an MBNA credit card. The balance includes interest of 7% per year. My wife remembers having the card, yet the card doesn't show on her credit report or any collection on her credit report. The collection agency will not send us any more info. What should we do?

    Thanks for any help!

First, never call them again, now, send them a letter disputing the alleged debt, demand validication of it. Demand they produce the original contract, no contract, no claim.
