    Can I file a child abandonment?
    I have a niece who is two years old now her dad is my brother and he is not married to the child's mother.. her mother left her to my brother since she was 8 months old after that we haven't hear from her we don't know where she is and what happened to her.. everytime we ask hre relatives if they have news about her all they say is that they don't know.. we are not asking for a financial support we just want to know if we can file a child abandonment for this case to protect my niece.. thank you

    What do you think filing for abandonment will get you? As a practical matter you can't file for abandonment, but you may be able to use abandonment as grounds for something else. So what is it you really want to protect your niece?
