I don't think anyone can voluntarily give up their "parental rights" rather you can have your rights taken away if, for example, your are a danger to your child, etc. Also, I don't think you can not pay child support unless it's approved by a Court of law and I don't know of any Court that would release you of that responsibility if the Court determines your child deserves and is legally entitled to that financial support. I am curious why you ask if you don't mind ? Is it a situation where the money you provide ( I assume you are providing child support now ?) is not needed or the money is not being spent wisely ?

Well why don't you know and why have not seen the child, ( sorry you say you are not trying to cope out, so I have to ask if not what you doing)

Why are you not asking how do you get visitation, how do you get the child over the summer to live with you. That would be not cope out.

I am sorry but I have to preach abit on this, it is one of my high horse issues.

But why do you want to sign over any rights, is there a step parent wanting to adopt?

Signing over your rights only means you have no visitation, you have no say in the raising of the child. You still have to pay child support, perhaps funish health insurance and the such, those are obligations, not rights, The only way you get out of support is for a step parent ( or partner) to adopt the child
