How to replace a broken bathtub drain stopper
The stopper in our tub is a lift-and-turn type of stopper. Due to using improper cleaning supplies, the knob that you use to lift and turn the stopper became eroded and broke off leaving the brass insert exposed.

We thought this would be easy, by just having to use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the brass insert, but no matter which way we turn to unscrew the insert it never becomes loose enough to be pulled out.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what should be done?

    Thank you.

    Hi Hnb

There are just too many knockoff types of these drains to guess at which one you have...

Can you post a picture (or pictures)? If you can, then we can probably help!

Hah, sorry. I guess that would help. At this moment, I can't find the knob that broke off. If we happen to come across it soon, I will post a picture of it.

Hold the chrome part (with the black rubber attached) with a pair of pliers while using another pair of pliers (or large screwdriver) to unscrew that brass bolt... should work.

    Back to you...
