Sewer smell in master bedroom
There is a sewer smell along one wall in the master bedroom. We have tried a number of things to no avail,
1. made sure shower, tub, and sink drains were flushed with water.
2. inspected other areas of the house for smell... none
3. called a plumber. He could smell faint odor but could not tell from where it came.
4. called another plumber. He did a smoke test and determined the commode in master had a small leak at the flange. Removed toilet, fixed flange, replaced wax seal and camera scoped the sewer line.
5. remove two other toilets, scoped their lines and replaed the wax seals.
6. recommended a whole house purifier.
After lots of dollars spent we still have an odor in the Master bedroom.
Where can I start next to get rid of the sewer gas odor

Hi Ray
Is there a bathroom or laundry room along the other side of the bedroom wall with the odor?
Where are the nearest plumbing fixtures in relation to the bedroom?
Let us know more...

Did this problem just start or has it been ongoing? I want to know, along with Mark, what you have on the opposite wall. Do any other fixtures bubble? Where is the smell the strongest? Smells and noises are the hardest things a plumber has to track down but will give it a try. Can you add any more details? Back to you, Tom

The adjacent wall is a family room. The nearest plumbing fixture is the toilet that was repaired . It is about 12 ft away and in the mster bath.

We have lived in the house 6 years and this started about 3 weeks ago. Could the smells have permeated the carpet, bedding and furniture?

Hi Ray
How is your home heated? If you have a forced air furnace, have you checked the heat vent? Here, it could be an issue at the heat vent, or it could be an issue with condensate build up back at the furnace... bedroom first supplied so smell strong there... MAYBE?
Back to you...

I will check that. The gas furnace is in the attic over the master bath. It is scheduled for maintenance on Thursday this week. I will make sure they check it out.
