    Thermostat, maple chase 2006
My heat pump kicked on the other morning and then just shut off. The thermostat has no display anymore. I went and checked 3 breakers in the box 2 that are listed for the furnace 1 listed for heat pump. All breakers seem on. I also went up in the attic where furnace is and checked those breakers. I hit the resset button in the thermostat.I Also checked the fuse in the thermostat. Nothing seems to work. Wondering if I need to replace the thermostat. Just one other thing I did have my annual service about a month like I have since I moved in.

Remove the thermostat & check for 24 volts A/C between R & each other terminal. If voltage is detected, your stat is bad.

I checked for volts in stat. No power. But when I was up checking fuse in furnace last night I noticed one of the 60 amp breakers had melted wire coating and looks like the breaker took heat as well. I have service coming in the morning. Hoping its nothing major. Thanks for you help, and taking time out of your day !

Sounds like you had a loose connection at the breaker. Did you notice if it was aluminum wire? If it is, every manufacturer I know of says "copper conductors only". I can't tell you how many breakers I've replaced due to the use of aluminum wire.

Maple Chase thermostat [ 6 Answers ]

I am hoping someone can answer my question. I have a digital maple chase thermostat and have it set to auto cool at 74 degrees. I noticed when it does not get over 74 and the air does not kick on for a few hours (more like 5 hours) that it resets itself to 78. Does anyone know why it does this?
