    Starting a Band
For a long time now I have wanted to start a band. I am 12 and in middle school and we do have talented people the problem is my friends can barely sing. I have a friend who can play guitar but he can't bring it to school and we have no where to meet up after school. I know another guy who can sing okay but he wants us to sing music that isn't even good and my voice can't take. In general I have a deep voice but it can be used for a lot of things so I never ave to strangle my voice to hit high notes and not ave my voice crack. My sister started a band with a friend who I'm friends with but says my deep voice would ruin their appearance. I can contact record labels and I can try out for things like X Factor and Americas Got Talent but I need members who have good a good taste of music and can sing.

How about this? -- put together a band, even if the members don't play or sing that well. There's tons of music and songs that might work and at least will give you all practice in working together. Once you hit high school, you will have more options on finding people to form a band.

As far as where to practice, there's not a garage or basement at someone's house that could be available? Or what about after school for an hour? in an empty classroom maybe?

    Friends play for fun.
Serious musicians aren't necessarily friends at first. They advertise around school (I don't know how big yours is) and as they get older, the ask around outside of school or even their towns.
There's an old saying in all the performing arts: Get lost, kid. The theory has always been that if you want something enough, you will work and work and struggle and fail until you succeed, and you will do it without anyone handing you a free pass. I'm sure you know that even in this day and age of TV talent shows, literally 10s of thousands of people never make it past the first review, never mind the ones you see little bits of in the outtakes, the ones who are rejected, before finally being rejected on actual live TV.

So good luck, and keep working on your own music while you wait for a band to form and work on finding people.
(Oh and of course not many band members stay together either, as I'm sure you know... ).
Offer to play for free around town, and next summer, play in parks and on sidewalks (make sure about town permits) and ask stores if you can play out front, with a hat for donations. Record your own CDs and have them for sale.
