    Debt validation
I am interested in finding out if: collection agencies notice of the 30 day to respond. Say if this notice is dated a year ago. Can I still write and ask for the validation of debt owed requesting the documents, etc. under the law. Can I do this and just keep it on file. Will it be justified if it goes into litigation or like is it too late?

Actually if it's a year old who cares, I'm sure they will send you another one. When you get that one then request it in the 30 days, because there is no proof you got the first one. I would not send them anything in case they would now think you are willing to pay and start harassing you. If you don't know try pulling up a credit report and it will be on there probably.

Let me get this straight a year ago you received a summons giving you 30 days to respond and you didn't. Are you sure this was just from the collector? Could it have been a court summons? If you didn't respond then a judgement was most likely entered against you. You need to find this out. With the judgement against you, why they haven't use it to attach assets or garnish wages I'm not sure.
