Low cold water pressure throughout house
For several months now, we have been having low water pressure throughout the house, but only with the cold water. Hot water pressure is fine, but cold water everywhere including kitchen sink, bathroom tubs, bathroom sinks, outside spigots, and comodes has been very low. Any suggestions on what may be wrong? There are system wide water filters in the crawl space under the house, and one plumber I talked to said those are probably clogged, but the hot water heater is after these filters in sequence, and so if it we the filters, it would lower hot water pressure too, right? Any help you can provide is greatly appreciate,

    Hi K

The filters are always the first place to check, but your reasoning in terms of the water heater and good pressure after the filters is good. With that being said, it is possible that the cold water feed into the water heater was taken off before the filters... actually common as you usually don't want to filter the cold water supply into the hot water heater, right (you don't drink it so why filter it)?

Chase out the cold water supply into the water heater... bet you find it connects into the main water supply BEFORE the filters. Then, check those filters and be sure to replace them if it has been more than 6 months to a year (or more) since they have been changed out!

If am incorrect and the cold water feed into the water heater is after the filters then the next thing to look for will be a SHUT OFF VALVE after the cold water pipe feeds into the water heater... may be clogged.

    Good luck!
