    Contractions too early
    Hello,
I am 27 weeks with my first. I have had painful contractions (very painful) for the last 3 days. They do not stop when I change positions. When I have them, they are anywhere from 5-20 minutes apart. I went to L&D 2 days ago per my doctors instruction, and was told I am having contractions, but not dilating. The ER doctor told me I would not go into labor for at least two weeks, and did not put me on bed rest but just told me to take it easy. I do not want to go on bed rest but am wondering if she may have been wrong. I am still having these very painful (not BH, I've had those) full contractions. I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion and get checked again to make sure I'm not going Into pre-term labor? Side note: There has been no discharge. Do I have to wait until my water breaks to worry whether I'm going into labor?

You need to talk to the doctor and see what they say. For one thing you shouldn't be going to the ER for contractions if you have talked to your doctor. You should be going to labor and delivery and they can monitor you. They can tell if your having real contractions or not. Also even at this early stage you could be having them. It needs to be checked.
