    Bugs in my couch
I bought my couch from a friend in feb.of this year, and haven't had a problem until recently. I keep it in my daughters toy room, and she is only three so it tends to get messy. Every few days I put on rubber gloves, and clean deep in the cracks, then vacume it out. Last night I noticed about a half dozen little bugs come out when I cleaned out the cracks. They are about the size of a sesame seed, but skinnier. They are a dark reddish brown, and at first I thought they were fleas, but they don't look quite like fleas and they don't jump or fly. Just crawl. Also, my experience with fleas, 10 years ago, is that they are hard to squish, and these were not. So I looked up sand fleas, and bed bugs and they don't look anything like the bugs I saw. I haven't noticed any bites on myself or my daughter, and she sleeps on the couch almost every night for a couple of hours. I remember seeing one about two weeks ago in my parents back yard. Also I found one on my dress today. I don't know if they are spreading or just one I didn't kill last night? Any ideas? Ive never had any bugs in my house, except a few fruit flys in the summer.

Brown and the size of a sesame seed makes me think of a drugstore beetle. Is there any plant material or pet food in the room?

See if this link rings any bells:

Thank you. I reviewed the site and the pics and the info sounds like the cigarette beetle that is linked on the page. But the pic is different. The head and end are more pointed. The reason I'm thinking it may be the cigarette beetle is because my ex stayed on my couch for a couple of weeks, and he smokes roll your own cigs and I was constantly vacuming loose tobacco from under cushions. Thanks. Im going to clean out the cracks again tonight and see if I find any more, and if I do I'm going to take a picture. I sprayed bug spray under the cushions when I found it and let it dry with a fan so I hope that fixes it.

It would be a good idea to flip the couch over and look at the underside, as well.

The underside has a black attached covering. You can't see into it. But ill poke a couple of holes into the bottom and spray some bug spray into it.

So I cleaned it out and vacumed it again. I founf one when I cleaned it, and two in the vacume. I tied up the bag and threw it outside, yhen sprayed it down with raid(under the cushions, ripped two holes in the underside and sprayed there, then used lysol over the whole thing
I have it drying now with a fan. I took a few pictures with my phone, but I donr know how to post them. Going to try to figure it out.

Sorry, that link only opens my timeline. To post a pic here, save it on your computer or memorize the internet address. Click on the "Reply" button under this post. There should be a toolbar over the box where you type. On the top row is a paperclip icon. It will open a "manage attachments" window, where you can open the picture file from your computer or enter the web address. Click on the "upload" button and we should be able to see the pic.
