    Rough in questions
Hello - I have a rough-in that was put in when the house was built in 1999. Help because I don't know what all the pipes are for. I have one coming out right next to the wall, I have one that I am pretty sure is a tiolet pipe, a square box cut in the floor with stones in it with one pipe in that, a pipe that is right next to the box and then a big sumpump looking hole with a cap on it next to that. What is all this stuff?
    Thanks in advance, Shawn

    Good morning Shawn,
It would have helped if if you would have given us pipe sizes but let me give it a shot.
The 4" pipe is the toilet and if the square is about a foot square it's for a bathtub, a larger square 4 or5' long would be a shower dap out.
The pipe next to the wall will pick up the lavatory and also comtinue through the roof as the vent for the bathroom group and the "sump pump" looking hole is most likely a sump left by the builder as a option for, (you guessed it) a sump pump. Good luck and if we can be of further help in your project fell free to ask. Tom

    Thanks and one more question
Thank you! Your right with the sizes, sorry for not putting that in. I did have one question thou. I already have a sump pump on the other side of my basement so is that other "sump pump looking hole" I was talking about for a pump to pump the waste out? And if it is what do I hook that too?
A rough in should come with instructions. Lol
I'm trying save money and do it ourselves but I think I might have to call a plumber.
    Thanks, Shawn

    Hi Shawn,
Are you saying that the basement rough in drains into a sump and not into the house sewer? That the house sewer exits the house above the floor line of the basement? Are you on city sewer or a septic tank? Now I need to know some pipe sizes. Let me start you out, toilet, 4", tub, 2", lavatory and vent, 2", pipe in sump?? I'll wait on your answers. Tom
