How to change ignition lock

2002 gmc serria pickup need to change out ignition lock but cannot turn key, so how do you get lock out if you can't turn the key as you need to to remove it.

My furnace blinks 3 times repeatedly, it goes into what my furnace describes as "Ignition Lock" then it will restart after 3 hours, what does this mean and how can I change it? The house gets quite cold when it is in lock, and its to cold outside to have this happen.
