Before I began taking birth control my periods never came every 28 days, it was more like every 40. Since I started the pill I've had trouble with timing my periods. If I take the pill and sugar pills as directed I'll often have no bleeding while on the sugar pills but then a few days or weeks into the next pack I'll have break through bleeding. This continued for years, my periods never aligned with the sugar pills. So recently I began a going a month and half between sugar pill breaks. I'll take a full pack of pills, then skipping the sugar pills, start the next pack and take a break in the middle of that month. My periods come much more regularly this way. I'm not currently having sex but I'm wondering if this has any effect on the efficacy of the pill, is there any risk of ovulation? To be clear, I'm not missing any pills and am giving myself the normal four days my brand of pill gives for periods.
