What is this movie called!?

All I can remember is two people fall in love & the guy screws it up somehow & the girl has a child around 5 or 6 & one time the guy comes over & she's in the shower & the little boy is watching TV. Hes a sarcastic little kid. & in one part of the movie the guy sets him on a bench inside the glass room to the moms apartment to wait there. & eventually she moves across town & he goes there & gets her back while she's putting her son to sleep.
