Is pet insurance worth it? Which plan would you advise? What limit would you say is acceptable?

Where do you live. This is an international site, and pet insurance is different Province to Province, State to State, country to country.

As for if it's worth it. If you have an emergency, it is. But for a healthy pet that just needs the basics like annual shots, neutering or spaying, it's not worth it, since no plan I've seen covers those things.

But, you never know when you're going to have an emergency. If the premiums are reasonable, and you can afford it, I'd say go for it. If your dog is hit by a car, or gets parvo, or something else bad happens, it can save you thousands.

Read the fine print, see what they actually cover before you purchase a plan.

I agree, it is like asking, is car insurance worth it, or is health insurance worth it.

I have paid my sons health insurance for 12 years, perhaps about a total of 15,000 dollars. Or more. I have not gotten one cent from it. But if he got seriously ill, I would need it.
