Looking for name of film I saw in the early 1960's
I saw a film - could have been a movie or a TV show in the early 1960's. We had a black and white TV, so I don't know if it was in color or not. The film totally traumatized me. The end of the story was a family - father, sons and a mother. Someone had done something wrong and each family member was putting their hand in a jar of acid as punishment. As I recall, the jar was a clear mason jar, used for canning. I think the people were farmers.
When this aired, we lived in rural Wisconsin and I am not even sure how many TV channels we had. I also think we bought a color TV as soon as they were readily available. Don't know if any of that helps. Anyway, would like to re-watch the film as an adult and get over the childhood trauma. Thanks for any help. |

It takes place during WW2 in a town in England. The protagonist are school children's, that go about on their bicycles to school these children's also have to to train in akind of home guard that is part of their school activities; one day a new student, an outsider perhaps a refugee from Germany...
