my pug had puppies yesterday but is still acting like she's in labour please help?
my pug had 6 puppies yesterday morning but sadly we lost 1 after trying to bring it round for roughly half an hour. Since she gave birth she has been panting on and off, I kept in contact with the vet throughout her labour as it happened in vet opening hours thankfully. I took her to the vet last night at half past 6 for a check up for her and pups four hours after her pups were born, I expressed my concerns to the vet about her panting so they gave her an x-ray and said nothing was there so the panting may be that she is settling into motherhood and because it was obviously an eventful day for her they said she should hopefully settle down soon but she's still doing it and kind of gagging like something is stuck in her throat and she wants to be sick but nothing is coming up. Also yesterday she wasn't interested in the pups and I had to look after them but this morning she seemed to take to them she has done well attending to there needs today with supervision from myself. I think that now she has took to the pups she's obviously settled down a lot more than she had the night before so why hasn't she stopped panting if she's settling in to motherhood I'm really worried?

I know you may not want to be a pest but if you are concerned still, you should call your vet they have the best handle on her at this point after providing after care for her.
Don't feel like you are bugging them, that is what they are there for, to help you and your pet.
I am wondering though if she ate any of the placentas before you could remove them (gross, but it is natures way) and you are seeing some nausea from it. Hence, the something "stuck" in her throat.
I hope mom and pups are doing well.
