Marketing my cleaning business
I have posted this under the Marketing Category, but it seems no one there knows the answer, I'm going to try my luck here.
Here it goes:
Hi all
I need to do some marketing for my cleaning business. I have read some threads here which are related to my question, I can see that go out and knock on doors or cold calling are the most effective way.
So I have started knock on doors, then here are the problems that I currently have: my cleaning business is focusing on general commercial site cleaning, and office cleaning. When I did my door knocking in my area, I have found most of the companies have "no sales person/ no hawkers" sign on their front door, so I can't go in and sale myself to them. What is your suggestion to find clients in an area like this?
Oh, I forgot to mention, I was trying to approach these offices by mail, I have designed some sales letters and was going to drop into their mail box, but I found that the whole complex's mail box has "No Junk Mail" sign on them... damn they are well protected...
I am also planning to find some school cleaning or office building cleaning, can any one advise when I make calls/or walk in to the reception who should I look for? What position of staff is generally in charge of hiring the cleaning companies or is the decision maker of the tender?

Have you written a business plan and bought all the equipment you will need? Are you experienced in cleaning commercially? Will you do this alone or do you have a crew ready to work? Are you ready to clean tomorrow if a business is interested?

Hi Wondergir, I have started to write a business plan, but it only has a main structure, I am writing in more specific along the way of learning. To your questions: Yes, I have brought all the equipment that will be needed for all our current service objectives. I have worked as a commercial cleaner for a year and half, I am good at doing what my company currently offers. I am doing this with my wife ATM, will hire some one if company grow quickly. Yes, I'm ready to clean as soon as the clients needed.
The company is up and running, if that's what you were trying to find out, and currently have few small clients.

I do not appreciate your giving me a bad rating for asking several reasonable questions. If you are not organized, no one will be interested in your business. Cold calling and dropping off brochures is NOT the way to advertise your business. I throw away (without reading them) at least five to ten mailings and brochures stuck inside my door each day.
I had a successful resume business and now an editing business. It's word of mouth among your personal connections that will get you the most business -- and your work will have to be reliable and well done in order to keep clients and get new ones.

Hello Wondergirl, I didn't meant to give you a bad rating, I just want to let the system know that your answer isn't helpful to me at all , because when you answer a question with your questions system automatically take me off the "UN-answered Question", and I don't want to repost my question again and again to spam this place to get some good answers.
I am looking for some one HAS cleaning company experience to answer my questions not some one reply posts just for good Reputation Number in the digital system.
At the end, still, if you carefully read my questions, you will find your two posts aren't talking about anything even related to them.
