Unless a necropsy was done (Like an autopsy for humans) nobody can really know why it died. Anything anyone would come up with would be nothing but a guess.

My boyfriends last girlfriend died from seizures. Your dog had a lot going on so it was probably the combination of health issues.

People die from surgery too - a blood clot works it's way to a vital part of the body like the brain. I'm very very sorry for your loss. I would hope your vet reimburses you even though you can't really blame him. You may not think about that now but don't wait too long.

There is no way to know without a necropsy - my dog died in her sleep last year after thousands of dollars in Vet care within months.
She died of sudden cardiac arrest, no explanation.
Sometimes with dogs, like people, there is no rhyme or reason.
You know you did all you could, right, including getting her experienced, emergency care?
I'm so sorry for your loss -

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Like everyone else said, without a necropsy, you'll never know why he died. Heck, even with a necropsy you may still never find out.
You did what you could, you brought him to the vet, and they did what they felt was right. Sadly, it didn't work.
Don't blame yourself, and don't blame your vet. This happens to everyone, humans and animals alike. Not all things are fixable, and not all things are easily diagnosed or treated. He was lucky to have such a caring Fur parent. Rest assured that it was nothing you did, or didn't do.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's a tough thing to go through.
I had a cat that died on the operating table due to complications.
I had a dog that died after spending all kinds of money to try to save him.
These things happen and you just can't control them unfortunately. Know that you tried and just remember the happiness that you enjoyed with your dog... and the happiness you brought to him while he was alive.

My dog had water on the brain, under developed organs and a lot of health issues. When he died the vet asked if I would give them permission to do the necropsy because they wanted to learn for better understanding on the condition.
