    Field 9 of Form I-765
    Hello

I am applying for green card via marriage, however we are doing ourselves and do not know what to answer on that field. I have been using tax id to work, and at one point My first digit on that tax id was modified and works as a six in place of the original nine.

Should I disclose that information? Am I getting in trouble for that?

We cannot afford a lawyer at the moment, any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

If you've never had a social security number, put "none". I don't know what you mean by "using tax id to work". An ITIN is just for filing taxes; it is not for work.

I meant to say that I used my Tax ID to pay taxes, On the books that's the number I used as if it was a social, shows on w2. Whenever there's was an application asking for a social I used Tax Identification, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, when it didn't work I used the Tax ID with the first number modified, from the original 9 to a invented 6.

I would say put "none" because you've never been assigned an SSN.

If you mean ITIN, and it is assigned to you, in your name, you should disclose this information. If you pay taxes, it does help.

However, if you used someone else's #, it would hurt you.
