    Ceiling Fan connection
Ceiling has Black White and Red, This room has a dual switch from a previous fan I believe that had one switch for the light and the other for the fan. The fan that we have now has a remote. I connected Red ceiling to Black fan and White ceiling to White fan and capped off the ceiling black. The fan and light work fine from the remote and one switch turns off the light. The other switch doesn't work at all. Is there a way to have this switch operate the fan? From the remote unit to the motor the connection is Black to Black, White to White and motor Black White stripe to remote blue. This is a universal remote purchased separately.

I was wrong, it is ceiling Red to Remote Black and ceiling White to Remote White and the ceiling Black is capped off. On the other side of the remote it is remote Black to motor Black, remote White to motor white and remote Blue to Motor Black/White Stripe.

The Blue wire is usually reserved for the light kit. I need you to describe the wiring from the supply wire in the ceiling to the switches. Although, I am curious as to why you want to use switches when you have a fan designed around the remote use.
