    Who pays the child support benefit when the noncustodial parent is on SSI
    A friend receives $650.00 per month in child support via the district attorney's office. The noncustodial parent is on SSI with a conservator. Who is paying the child support if SSI benefits are not attachable? Thank you.

    If the only money they receive is from SSI and not SSD then there isn't going to be child support being paid. SSI is suplemental amount to barely live on. There are no dependent benefits with it.

    Thank you cdad. So he is likely receiving SSD as well? As I mentioned in my question, she is receiving child support from the father via the DA's ofc. The father's mother filed with the DA so his daughter, her grand-daughter would receive child support from er son but she his now deceased.

    I have no idea what he is collecting. SSI does not include dependent benefits. SSD does include it. SO it is possible he is on SSD and has applied for the child to receive a benefit.
