Hi, looking for a Japanese Anime movie.

Made around the late 70's. It would air on Canadian TV in the early 80's during long weekends.

It had a princess or bride hanging by her hands of a crumbling ledge at the ending of the movie.

It seems similar to Lupin the Third – Castle of Cagliostro: she was being rescued by a male lead hero; she was in a white dress; she was dangling over a precipice.

However, the princess/bride in the movie I'm thinking of was different from the bride in Cagliostro:
1) in the movie I'm trying to find, the castle ledge she was dangling from was crumbling away (unlike Cagliostro);
2) her cliffhanger situation was more drawn-out and dramatic than Cagliostro;
3) and, she seemed to be making a decision to sacrifice herself by letting go of the ledge.
