    After birth
I gave birth to my son about 2 months ago. I breastfed for a week or so. My husband and I have been sexually active. I still have not started my period. I have had some extremely light spotting for about a day. We took a pregnancy test about a week ago and it was negative. Is this normal? Could I be pregnant?

You had sex, unprotected, so yes you could be pregnant. While breastfeeding does afford some amount of birth control, it's not always 100%.

It could take your period as long as 6 months for your period to get back to normal again.

    Thank you.
    When should I test again?

You only breastfed for a week? If that's the case, that week didn't provide enough time to aid in birth control.

You really need to be using protection as having back-to-back pregnancies can be unhealthy for you and baby.

Test again in another month if you don't get your period. Remember to use first morning urine and start using protection.
