How to repair leaking single handle washing machine valves?
    Hello all,

I've just moved into a new house and the washing machine valves are strange. There are two outlets connected to one lever style handle. Whey I opened them up, the assembly is leaking from an area around the base of the handle. Is this something I should try to repair on the existing handle or just replace this contraption with individual hot and cold shut off valves?

    Thanks in advanced!

    Hi Collinsroosa

In cases like this you CAN'T repair the valve... oring seals are shot. Luckily, these usually swap out really easily!

Here, shut off the water and loosen/remove the 2 slotted screws and then go to home depot... should have an axact replacement available for you. Most of these valves fall under the name brand of WATTS or SYMMONS so look at your valve and see if you can find a name brand... replace with the same kind.

Once you have the new valve it should be as simple as installing the new seals/orings and screwing the new valve back in place.

Purchase some SS braided hoses for extra added leak protection in the future.

    Good luck!

    Mark
