    Kitchen Sink In The Basement
    Hi,

My fiancée and I are looking to put a kitchen sink into our basement. We just do not know what kind of pump we need to put down there. We are not going to let any food go down the drain so we do not have to worry about a that. I really do not have anymore information than that, I hope someone can still help.

    Thank you!

You don't5 need a pump. You won't even have to break up cement. Pick one of the vertical stacks and cut in a sanitary tee 18" off the floor. You will have to vent your sink by installing a upright tee ion the arm and venting by one of three ways,
1- Run a vent out the roof
2- Revent back into a existing dry vent at least 6" above the flood rim of the highest fixture **OR**
3- If code allows you can instal a AAV ( air admittance vent).
You may now arm out to a "P" trap and install your sink.
Hey! Ya didn't think this would be easy did you? Good luck, nTom

    Hi Dcarl

If the drain is higher than the sink and you cannot cut into a vertical drain as Tom suggested then you are looking to install a zoeller laundry tray pump... see image. In my opinion, this is the best pump on the market and will serve you well for years! Look them up online... it's where you'll find your best deal!

When the pump arrives pop back and we'll discuss hooking it up, OK?

Finally, why install a kitchen sink and not a utility sink? You will get far more function with this kind of sink... ;)

Tom and Mark Thank you for your answers!

The drain is upstairs. I know for sure we need a pump. I have talked to my father and some other people and they just keep talking about needing a pump but don't really know what a good pump or brand would be.

Mark we are making the basement into a "mini apartment" My parents just bought a new kitchen sink and gave us their old one. Other wise I would look into a utility sink. I will look into the pump you have attached. Thank you!
